PHOTOJOURNALISM - Daily Shots

Journal Entry: Sat May 10, 2008, 11:18 AM
The following photos are among my favourites and were chosen from different news agencies. Not all are exactly considered as photojournalism since some do not clearly convey any news, but they’re part of photojournalists’ daily shoot. The common characteristic is to provide viewer a different outlook and standpoint. Remarkable composition is something that is noticeable in all with a light theme of abstract in most of them. The description was quoted from their website followed by the name of news agency and photographer. Enjoy!

"Thirst For Life" Won The Third Place!

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 13, 2008, 8:16 PM
Hello everyone!

It's feeling good when your photo wins even third place in a contest, specially when that's your first competition! Thirst For Life has won the third place in "Experimental Photography Contest" among 331 participants. I preferred to put this shot in the contest rather than "Set Me Free" since I learned and experienced more techniques in Thirst For Life. So dare and go ahead...challenge your works in some competitions! :)

PHOTOJOURNALISM - "Timing"

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 30, 2008, 1:50 AM
This time I would like to share some of my favourites in photojournalism considering timing from various professional photographers. Although features like continuous shooting with speed of sometimes 10 frame per second in DSLR cameras (like Canon 1D MARKIII) make this job less painful but still professional skill is a need to be on the right time and click at the right moment. So let’s have a look at some samples:

A time-lapse exposure captures the streaks made by stars over sandstone formations in Utah. Photographers capture "star trails," the movement of stars across the night sky, by keeping the camera shutter open for hours instead of seconds. The same technique applies to capture aurora, but you need to be aware of having some special equipment to keep your camera and lens warm enough!

PHOTOJOURNALISM - "ANGLE"

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 15, 2008, 1:31 PM
Hello everyone! :)

It’s a long time that I eagerly follow and enjoy press photos in various media and news agencies. Photojournalism and documentary photography were always along my favourite categories in photography. So many breathtaking images are captured by amazing photojournalists around the globe every day. Some are in a war zone or human conflict, and some in a public event, social gathering, politics or simply every-day life. I personally exclude paparazzi and celebrity photography from this style since I don’t perceive any sort of art in that type of work but bothering people!! Anyways…I would like to share some of my favourites from various photojournalists based on different perspectives (angle, timing, human conflict… ) with you. Today, we’ll have a look at some photos which illustrate the best of “angle”. The name of news agency and photographer are followed by the picture:

One of the best shots I've ever seen. The picture received 1st Prize as The Art of Entertainment, shows dancers from the Nederlands Dans Theater take part in a dress rehearsals for their forthcoming Edinburgh International Festival performances at the Edinburgh Playhouse,Scotland. Amazing angle came with wonderful color composition.

Features!

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 9, 2008, 4:34 PM
It's been a long time away from DA after spending overwhelmingly busy weeks and now time to back on track (but slowly ;) ). To warm up, I’ll start to feature my friends’ works in this and future journals periodically, as my appreciation :) . Also thanks to “Mynti” [link] for CSS layout.

Cheers.

...more to come.

DD for "Set Me Free"!

Journal Entry: Wed Feb 20, 2008, 12:12 AM
Dear all friends,

I’m glad to tell you that the “Set Me Free” was chosen as DD in the website!! My sincere appreciation goes to DeviantArt staff and all friends and supporters here. The comparison between this shot and “Thirst for Life” is quite interesting. For “Thirst for Life” I spent plenty of hours and more than 400 shots (continuous) till finally captured what I wanted. Maybe that’s why I've still kept it as the feature of my gallery. But for “Set Me Free” I was just driving by and only for a second I turned my face towards the city and that was exactly the moment that the statue was between me and the city! And instantly I realized THAT’S IT!... and here we go!

Since I received bunch of print requests, the photo is now available for print, but normally I’m not looking for earning money out of my works; it’s just my hobby. Also these days I’m extremely busy with a lot of daily-life stuff and apparently this will go on for another or maybe two more weeks. But hopefully thereafter I’ll start to post new photos and explore my friends’ galleries more than before. :)

Cheers.
